E3 2007: The Big Three

A commonly known fact about Nintendo systems is that the 3rd party support sucks; keeping tradition, the Wii has next to no 3rd party titles that are slated be shown. One that's sure to get announced though, is Red Steel 2. The first game sold ridiculously well for no apparent reason, so a sequel is inevitable. Even though the first game was kind of terrible, I would put a little faith in Ubisoft that they'll fix some of the original's problems. Rest assured, it won't be as terrible as everyone thinks.

Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 is another safe bet (really safe actually, because it's been announced). Just hope they don't mess with that formula too much, and it'll be the best Wii mini-game collection at the show. EA's Boogie should be on display, and I for one am curious to see what it's all about. It's probably not much more than a glorified karaoke game, but there could be something there. Oh, and it's not a game, but expect SEGA to support the Wii by announcing that Sonic will be a playable Smash Bros. character.

Yes, the DS is the big boy in town, and from the looks of this showing, that's not going to change soon. Phantom Hourglass will single-handedly drive the DS sales of '07/'08 (though it's not as if the DS needs something to drive it's sales), so the showing won't be anything but amazing. Elite Beat Agents 2 will be announced for U.S., and I wouldn't be at all surprised if we see an online Vs. mode somewhere in there. Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword rounds out an absolutely stellar lineup for the best system available now.

As if the DS needs any more help in the sales department.

All this info that's been announced (or speculated on) can mean only one thing: E3 '07, however smaller it is now, is going to be insane. There's a killer spread of games this year. Seriously, I can't think of a better lineup, (except on the Wii). As much as we've heard about the "death" of E3, I still can't wait for the madness to start again. Here's to a fantastic Electronic Entertainment Expo 2007!
