The Euro 2004 demo is now available, allowing you to play Portugal, England or France in a friendly.

This is the English and French language version of the demo and it should auto-detect which language Windows is using. The demo allows you to play half of a friendly match.

DEMO REVIEW
UEFA Euro 2004 brings you one mode of play, one arena to play in and 3 teams to play with. Euro 2004 is a Soccer (or football) demo that prides itself on the fact that you can do crazy moves like bicycle kicks and the like, but I was unable to pull any of those moves off. The demo is very short, maybe 15 minutes max, so you hardly get any feeling for what game is really like.

The graphics in the demo are very sub par, even the little “cut scenes” in the game didn’t look that good. In-game your players look like blocky ants that can kick a ball to the moon. But something I did like about the cut scenes was how real the actions of the players looked; when your player fouled someone, he had to be held back by his teammates not to bash someone’s head in; it really made the game more immersive.

The one thing in this game that was actually really good was the sound quality. Everything in the game sounded great. Just listening to the sound of the crowd cheering my team along blew my mind. It was awesome.

As I said above, this game prides itself on the fact that you can make your players do crazy soccer moves. The problem with this is that the demo doesn’t come with anything to tell you the controls, so not only could I not do those fancy moves, I couldn’t even do the basic ones! I don’t expect it to come with a manual, but we should at least be able to access the control menu.

Not having this meant that I had to find out by trial and error what “kick” and “pass” was. This is much harder than it sounds because the game is very high paced, with no time to figure out which keys do what.

The game may actually be great, but this demo will leave you with a bad taste in your mouth due to the issues mentioned above.
