We have two potential candidates for the David Carradine casting award as Walt Disney's Prince of Persia film looks decidedly un-Persian. Variety reports that Jake Gyllenhaal of Brokeback Mountain fame will portray the Prince with Gemma Arterton (from the upcoming James Bond film) playing Princess Tamina.
Jerry Bruckheimer is slated to direct this big budget adaptation of the popular game series that happens to be a ready made trilogy. The first film will follow the plot of the first game, dealing with the Sands of Time. Production starts in July in Morocco, with Disney planning to release the film in 2009 as a summer tentpole project. Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner will reportedly collaborate on the script.
