Paramount Getting Into Gaming Market

The movie and TV giant wants to put its popular franchises to the most profitable use, so it's now interested in making video games.


Paramount Studios has announced expansions to its interactive department team and said it is putting together a slate of  video games. Paramount would partially or completely finance these products and directly oversee development.

The studio said it will use its current catalog and future releases to mine from. It has announced no titles or firm release dates, but expects to send out the very first games later this year. Star Trek, arguably Paramount's biggest franchise, is still licensed to Bethesda.
