Rumors are circulating that Orlando Bloom could play iconic gaming icon the Prince of Persia, but Walt Disney films is denying any actor has been inked.
Hollywood seems destined to ruin yet another video game property with a rumored trilogy to be based on the hit Prince of Persia series. A report believed to have originated at World Entertainment News Network spread like wildfire.
It said that Pirates of Caribbean star Orlando Bloom had signed on for the role and that he had beaten out High School Musical star Zac Efron. Walt Disney has since vehemently denied the rumors, saying no actor has yet signed on for the role.
What we can confirm is that Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) will direct and Jerry Bruckheimer will produce. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is slated for a June 2009 release.
