Speaking with Eurogamer earlier this week, Valve's Doug Lombardi revealed his thoughts on a Portal sequel, and why such a game won't be arriving in the immediate future.
"In typical Valve tradition, [Portal 2] won't be Portal with different colours," said Lombardi.
He goes on to compare a Portal sequel to Half-Life 2, and how that game improved upon its predecessor. He notes that the same “Okay, that was revolutionary, so its successor has to be equally as revolutionary” philosophy remains.
"That's the spirit I think we're approaching it in. You won't see a new Portal at retail this Christmas because of that. That's the trade off. People want more, but we don't want to give them more of the same right away because that would just be boring," Lombardi concluded.
