Electronic Arts Ends Take-Two Takeover Bid

EA says it has given up its attempt to drink Take-Two Interactive's milkshake.

Bloomberg reports that EA has ended its discussions with Take-Two Interactive and will not make a proposal to buy the Grand Theft Auto publisher.

Take-Two Chairman Strauss Zelnick said the company is in talks with other strategic partners but Zelnick declined to name any of them. The negotiations had gone on for months, beginning with a hostile takeover bid from EA. Last month EA dropped its $2 billion attempt and opted to hear a proposal from Take-Two.

The much-discussed merger would have created the largest game company in the world, surpassing Activision Blizzard, the creation of which surpassed EA as the largest company. Sorry, all you folks that wanted to play Grand Theft Madden.
