In a recent interview, Phil Harrison acted surprised when asked questions that are obviously on everyone's mind. He then finished by saying "well those were positive questions" in a sarcastic tone. Umm, what were we just saying, Phil?
The interview was recorded, but the most interesting part was off-tape. It started out innocently enough, with Joystiq asking Phil some rather easy questions that have been on everyone's mind lately.
Questions about Sony claiming Microsoft copies them, when in actual fact they both copy each other, and about Sony being arrogant seemed to agitate the Sony CEO, judging by his answers. He ended the interview off tape with a "sarcastic tone", according to the interviewer, saying "well those were positive comments".
It's never a good situation when executives in an industry start to expect that the press will only ask them 'nice' questions that give them a free opportunity to promote themselves. Sorry Sony, but that's real journalism, you better get used to it! It's good to see video game journalists starting to think for themselves, rather than just regurgitating the same old PR speak that we are fed day-in day-out.
