MOO3 has been postponed so often it feels like we’ll actually be zipping around the galaxy by the time it’s released.
What's so special? We want Master of Orion III to succeed. We want it to be all that and a bag of dilithium crystals. After all, conquering the world is always nice but conquering the universe is even better. Unfortunately with all the ups and downs the project has been through it’s hard not to take a wait and see attitude. Cross your fingers for this one, but don’t start frothing at the mouth in anticipation just yet.The best damn 4X space game ever is about to see its third incarnation. Well, hopefully it will see its third incarnation. MOO3 has been postponed so often it sometimes feels like we’ll actually be zipping around the galaxy by the time it’s released.
Rebuilt from the ground up MOO3 will feature everything that made the first two games so addictive, but with plenty of new features. For example, while it’s still a turn based strategy game the battles themselves will play out in real time.
This may seem like sacrilege but with the possibility of several hundred ships for each side participating in a single battle can you imagine having to direct each ship in a classic IGOUGO turn? Ugh.
Another new feature will be star lanes, which act like borders for your empire. No more will you find your homeworld knee deep in the enemy before you can even raise a defense.
