What is a horror game without blood? Boring, that's what.

Slow-mo “bullet time” was also going on in a big way. With the press of a button you can activate this special ability, slowing down enemies and making them so much more the bullet sponges. Those who are familiar with the feature in F.E.A.R. will feel right at home with Project Origin.

Bow Mecha Wow Woooowwwwww!

A small addition in P.O. is the inclusion of a fourth weapon slot. This may seem minor, but having space for a heavy weapon that you’d normally have to dump to make room for a more frequently used weapon is a beautiful thing. Oh, P.S… Weapons now allow for iron sight aiming.

A not-so-small addition in P.O. is the inclusion of mechanized body armor. After navigating my way through the ruined streets, and shooting out a transformer to cut juice to some loose power lines, I got my first taste of the bad-assetry that is the P.O. Mech. This beast of a machine is equipped with twin mini guns and the same number of missile arrays. Stomping through the streets unleashing a barrage of firepower was an amazingly satisfying experience. Wreck-factor has been amped up with more destructible environments, awesome particle effects and HUGE explosions. The mech was such a blast (Blast! Hah! See what I did there?) to pilot, that I was sad when my demo ended with me facing an enemy in the same armor as I had.

Piloting the mech is awesomely satisfying.

Overall, Project Origin is shaping up to be an awesome follow-up to an already awesome game. With new features, new environments and even more Alma, Monolith Productions is looking to provide fans with the service that they deserve. With an October release date, Monolith has plenty of time to iron out some of the technical issues (notably, severe frame-rate drops) and have Project Origin up and running smoothly. I cannot wait to meet Alma again.
