The finished product could very well be an intensely fun and creepy game.

What's so special? If the list of upcoming features is any real indication of what they want the finished product to become, it could very well be a very fun and creepy game.

Developer track record: Cenega publishing is responsible for one of the most hilarious/weird things I've ever seen. An anthropomorphic goat savagely wielding a katana. Ever since then I've had a soft spot for the company. So whenever I get the chance to look at their new titles I always hope to see them succeed.

Shade: Wrath of Angels (S:WoA) takes place in Europe, where you are looking for your brother who disappeared during an excavation of an ancient crypt.

We're not breaking any new ground plot wise here, but one thing that does stick out against other games with similar plots is that the towns and locals of S:WoA feels much more egitimately European. We rarely get to see games made about Europe made by actual Europeans.

Anyway, when you arrive in the town that borders the dig site, you find the town suspiciously empty. While there you are treated to some creepy hallucinations, and eventually an undead villager or two. Upon entering the dig site, you find that it connected to an ancient subterranean lair, and what good is an ancient lair if it doesn't house an ancient evil? No good, that's what.

You are employed by this shade to find several artifacts for its greater purpose. Mix in an angelic sword, sift 72 ounces of Desert Eagle, and beat is one ability to turn into a spike-handed demon and start cooking.

S:WoA reminds me of a gothic/mystical Max Payne in appearance and graphics. Which is in no way a bad thing. It's a good third-person point of view that allows for good use of ranged or melee weapons.

Unfortunately, that's really all there is to see at this point because there is still a lot that the developers have scheduled to work on.

If the list of upcoming features is any real indication of what they want the finished product to become, it could very well be a very fun and creepy game. This preview copy shows promise, and I hope that those who arm goats, pull it off.
