Falcon 4.0 Allied Force is one of the most sophisticated flight simulators ever produced for the PC!

Falcon 4.0 Allied Force (AF) has a storied history among flight simulators. Basically it’s an upgrade of the venerable Falcon 4.0. It’s been a long time coming. I’m quite proud to say that the original Falcon 4.0 has never left my harddrive. I’ve upgraded and added every add-on that was made available by the flight sim community, and some of them are as worthy as any commercial add-on. It’s taken a while for me to get this review to you, but you will appreciate that AF has already been patched to version 1.07, which squashes most of the bugs of the original boxed version. I suggest you all download the latest patch immediately.



What do you get out the box? Well, you get a fifty page printed manual, that describes all of the basics. Most users will find all that’s necessary to get up and flying. For those that need additional documentation, you will find a 500 page .PDF document that you can peruse or print out. You can print one out at your local printer for about $45. Interestingly, you can use your original Falcon 4.0 manual. Most of the information is the same. As the title suggests, you fly the F-16, it’s the USAF’s most versatile fighter, capable of both air to air and air to ground fighting. There are three versions of the F-16 you can fly.

All three are highly detailed with accurate flight models and realistic avionics. These are truly “electric jets”. The avionics are top notch. Both air to air and air to ground systems are modeled, with sub systems for each mode. All types of weapons are included, even laser guided bombs. There are numerous mission profiles to fly, including deep strike, FAC (forward air controller), CAP (combat air patrol) and more.



If you don’t like the missions that are available, you can actually set up your our own missions! This is one of the biggest changes from Falcon 4.0. With the fully dynamic campaign mode with tens of thousands of units running around. If you see that tank battalion moving towards your front line and you want to take it out, it’s easy to do so using the resources you have available.
