What specifically, about the PC graphics make it so disappointing? Well, the player models for one look at least a couple of years old. For example, Natalie Gulbis is one of the new golfers to the roster this year. Ms. Gulbis is a very beautiful woman in real life, but you wouldn't be able to tell from looking at her low-resolution, blocky character model in Tiger Woods 07. Some of the golfers heads look to be a little on the large side, as well. To make things worse, EA has added some kind of weird blurring effect anytime the camera shows your golfer reacting after a shot.

The blur covers everything in the background so that the focus is on your golfer. The problem is, sometimes the blur covers your golfer as well, meaning the entire screen is one big blur. The courses themselves actually look a little bit better than last years game, and there is definately more detail on the courses when compared to the aforementioned ProStroke Golf, but overall, its time for a new graphics engine.

How about the audio? Well, if you heard the commentary from Tiger Woods 2004, you'll know exactly what to expect in Tiger Woods 07. EA again proves my point and shows its lack of innovation by recycling the exact same audio from three years ago, and this is true for every sports title EA has ever made. Don't believe me? Look in the Sound directory where you installed the game. Some of the commentary .mp3 files have 2K4, 2K5, and 2K6 in the title! What could the 2K4 possibly represent, other than the year 2004, which is when this commentary was originally made? EA just copied the commentary from three years ago and added it into this year's game. How creative. Way to take the easy route, EA.

Memo to ProStroke Golf developers: This is how golf courses are supposed to look like.

But wait, there is something new with the audio in Tiger Woods 07. According to the press release I received along with my review copy, this year's game features improved sound! What kind of sound, you ask? This is a direct quote from the press release: "Players hear the crowd just like Tiger Woods does on Championship Sunday. Crowds cheer and jeer in surround sound based on your performance." That's right, EA is touting crowd audio as a new feature in this year's Tiger Woods. Crowd audio? Are you serious? Is that the best you could come up with? Note to EA, when your press release announces improved crowd audio as one of the major new features, its time to overhaul your whole operation. Needless to say, I am not impressed.

Since the PC and Xbox 360 versions are limited to only 12 courses, a course editor would have been nice, especially considering the advantage PC and Xbox 360 owners have of more hard drive space. Alas, there is no course editor at all, although you should be able to find 3rd party courses online (from what I understand, it is pretty easy to import an 06 course for use in 07, as well, although I've never actually done it). The PS2 and Xbox versions at least get the 'Dream Course' editor, which allows you to combine your favorite holes from all of the included golf courses into one course, but surprise, surprise, this feature is nowhere to be found in the PC version.

No, you don't need glasses. That is just the awful blur effect covering the background and Jesper Parnevik.
