Much of the main dialogue in the game is performed by the actors who portrayed the various captains throughout the Trek series’. Most of them do their characters justice. Others seemed to be less than enthusiastic, such as actor William Shatner’s performance as Captain Kirk. He does not seem to enjoy this latest return to the role that made him famous. Though his performance is not necessarily bad, by the end of his turn in the captain’s chair you certainly get the feeling that he would really like Kirk to be dead, and stay that way.
The bulk of Legacy’s dialogue comes from the various captains. What remains are comments and updates by random crew members or taunts from enemy ships. The assortment of dialogue from allies and enemies alike is quite limited, meaning you will hear the same mutterings from them over and over again.

Another failing for Legacy is a lack of accompanying character animations of any kind during scenes with heavy dialogue. What you get are talking ships conversing in space, adding another unintentionally comical aspect to the game.
We would have liked to discuss some of the finer points of Legacy’s multiplayer game, but alas we were not able to get it working sufficiently. When the multiplayer menu was not crashing or locking up the game for minutes at a time, there seemed to be little or no other players to whom we could connect. (Sarcasm on) There is a LAN option which might very well provide some reasonable fun for Star Trek fans, provided they actually have any friends to play it with. (Sarcasm off).
Sorry. Had to get in just a small jab at my old Trek brethren.
As a whole, Legacy is quite a letdown. While similar games like Bridge Commander or the Starfleet Command series were far from perfect themselves, they at least offered some reasonable challenge and were capable of effectively immersing one into the Star Trek universe. Legacy fails to accomplish either of those things pretty much across the board, while simultaneously annoying and confusing players over and over again. Legacy is probably not worth looking at by any but the most ardent Star Trek fans. Just be prepared for disappointment.
