Massive Assault Network 2

This leads me to revealing MAN2’s biggest selling point which ironically is its downfall: online play. With no story mode, that leaves the only way of getting anything out of this game battling other players online. Only problem: NOBODY'S PLAYING THE GAME! Out of all the countless hours I spent playing MAN2, I encountered a whopping TWO other people online. It didn't matter what time of day I was online or how many hours I spent playing, the "network" would always be deserted.

One of the many cool explosion effects demonstrated.

So with no human players to tango with, that left me with battling the two AI opponents. Opponents whom you'll swear have an unlimited amount of funds to deploy uber-powerful units. So let's see, I can either fight an AI that cheats more than a crooked Vegas dealer... or nobody. I think I'd rather play the tutorial over and over again and chuckle at how the narrator sounds like Dr. Kovac from ER.

Anti-air Tracks can shield some of your forces from Bomber and Battle Copter assaults.

Overall, while Wargaming.net deserves props for being an independent game developer attempting to garner mainstream appeal for their titles, I can't in good conscience recommend Massive Assault Network 2. Sure, whoever created the epic orchestral score should release a CD. Sure there's some satisfaction to be had when the camera zooms in on an enemy unit as it's obliterated in a massive, slow-motion explosion of fire and twisted metal. But in the end, you can't enjoy an online game if there's nobody online.

Highs
Sharp visuals; cool weapon and explosion effects; dozens of unit types.

Lows
No plot, characters or objectives; practically no one to play online with; slow pacing, even by strategy game standards; slowdown and crash issues.

Final Verdict
With the inclusion of a story mode and faster gameplay the MAN series could be a hit someday. Until then, there's really no justification to purchase it.
