We give Test Drive: Unlimited a test drive of our own.
I always wanted to go to Hawaii. Who wouldn't, right? Check out the wonderful sights, the sounds, the women in skimpy bikinis. I could learn to surf and win a big surf contest, garnering cash prizes and worldwide acclaim, then make out with my beautiful and exotic Polynesian girlfriend under a waterfall splashing down into a crystal clear pool in the middle of virgin jungle.

Okay, so that's not going to happen. But what if I just want to drive around Oahu in ridiculously fast and grossly expensive super cars? Previously, this would have required a plane ticket, undue amounts of cash, and an expansive insurance policy. But now, for the low, low price of $40, PC gamers can enjoy such automotive exploits in the comfort of their own home, via Atari's new racing game, Test Drive: Unlimited.
Unlimited starts you out by picking your character and getting yourself to the islands. There are a rather strange variety of avatars to select from, ranging from your androgynous males to the stereotypical "Hilton-esque" Barbie doll women - certainly not a very realistic cross section of the gamer culture at large.

Once you have your character, you must then pick a house from a limited list of starter homes, as well as your first car. The pickings in the later category are slim at first, centering on your basic Saturn's and Chevys. Then, you are basically set free to explore the island.
