Seeing a great classic game freed from the realm of abandonware and budget priced collector set repackaging is quite satisfying.
Wow, time sure does pass quickly, doesn't it? It seems like only yesterday we were marveling at Lara Croft and her impressively buxom adventures through the remnants of the ancient world. Her arrival on the scene gave gamers one of their first experiences with a truly 3D game, as well as an introduction to the wonderful possibilities of the female form. Now, some 10+ years later, Eidos and developer Crystal Dynamics present us with an updated version of this seminal adventure classic, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary.

Anniversary's story follows the same as that seen in the original game, namely Lara pursuing a lifelong desire to recover the pieces of the Scion of Atlantis. This is a strange device within which is held the secrets of that ancient mythical island empire. The story unfolds sporadically through the game through various cutscenes. Yet, by far, much of your time in Anniversary is spent actually playing the game, as it was in the original game.
Fans of the original will recognize quite a bit in Anniversary's game play. The infamous raptors and T-Rex are back and in great form, as are the tigers and gorillas and whatnot. You will find the standard lever pulling, box pushing, jumping, swinging, shimmying, shooting, and swimming that have always been a staple of Tomb Raider games.

Beyond that are some cool updates to Lara's stable of moves introduced in Legend, which make her much more graceful and agile on her feet. These moves range from an elegant swan dive into water to a cool succession of acrobatic flips and twists. Lara can perform wall-runs with her grappler and even balance herself and jump from poles across crevasses.
