A colorful turn-based strategy game that, unfortunately, leans towards the boring side of the genre.

Fantasy Wars is another entry into a genre that is slowly growing stale due to a lack of new features and it seems that this title does nothing to help.

The back of the box claims that you will command massive armies of various races in epic battles but, instead, you control groups of 10-15 people that are represented outside of occasional combat scenes as a single individual. Not what I would consider massive armies but perhaps they know more about it than I do.

The combat itself is fairly cookie cutter. Click on your guy, click on the enemy and ignoring the uncommon zoomed in combat scenes combat is shown by what amounts to an animated icon. A few seconds of your time and an entire battle flies by with the health of the units in question lowered by the attack strength of the other unit. About as basic as you can get in this genre without dumbing it down to pure text.

The hero our our boring story, Guy-On-A-Horse-#217.

Graphics are bright and colorful, if stale and dripping of the obvious, if not as well done, style Warcraft is known for. Low resolution textures with an animated, fairly cartoonish style. Even on maximum settings the game seems like it should have been released years ago instead of 2007.
