Think hard before you consider purchasing this bore-fest.
I have played a great number of video games in my life and after playing WWII Tank Commander from Sylum Entertainment and Merscom the only words I have to describe it are sheer mediocrity! While the concept of the game is catchy and appealing the results are less then fulfilling. Although this is a simulation game the lack of any real engaging elements beyond blowing other tanks to hell makes the game tiresome after the first few missions. Simply put the game lacks personality.
As far as the graphics and game play elements go they are fairly well put together. Unfortunately the sound is not, as voices are often garbled and the subtitles that come on the screen are annoying. There is an echoing effect in the second mission as well where all sounds are distorted.
Another big problem I have with the game is the AI interaction. Not only is the AI slow to attack but there were times when I would rake the field over with machine gun fire and not a single enemy soldier would go down after taking multiple hits. It was like I was shooting right through them, ironically proving my point that the game is more show than substance
Tank Commander just doesn't live up to its expectations and that’s a shame. The premise was good, the graphics engine was good and the control setup was excellent I will give them that, but the game lacked any sense of progression or motivation behind it.
Sure you get the chance to roll around in a Panzer and blow Nazi's to bits but the game offers little else and as fun as rolling around in a Panzer and blowing Nazi's to bits is you can only do it so many times before it loses the little appeal it has.
