In addition to the WOPII CD, this excellent package contains large, colorful, glossy, detailed information sheets or maps on each airplane. The information sheets contain quite a bit of useful information, at least for the hard core flight simmer. You get some brief history on the plane and “important tips” to know about it.
For example, for the P-47, the sheet explains how to release drop tanks, provides tips on how to land safely, gives a warning about idling below 800 RPMs to avoid clogging up the plugs, and reveals the maximum airspeeds for flap extension, gear extension and high speed diving. Exceed these limits and like the real P-47 bad things will happen. I decided to put this particular aspect of “absolute realism” to the test.
Sure enough, I was unable to extend gear and flaps when my speed exceeded the maximum IAS. In the Zero, I kept the gear extended at takeoff and succeeded in damaging the landing apparatus when I exceeded the by-the-book speed limits. You will discover either by reference to the detailed information sheets or by trial-and-error that each plane has different limits.
For the hardcore and the serious enthusiast, the detailed information sheets are manna from heaven. At your fingertips are the plane’s technical specifications, engine limitations and characteristics, and a cruise control schedule.
